WELCOME

Welcome to my blog. Travelling and guiding  has added such value to my life.

I love having the opportunity to share my passion and my thoughts regarding the archaeology and culture of  Greece and the wider area. Read on, and enjoy.

The archaeology of Greece can be traced back to Stone Age hunters.Greece has be considered to be  the cradle of Western civilization, as the birthplace of democracy, Western philosophy, Western literature, historiography, political science, major scientific and mathematical principles, theatre and the Olympic Games. However, Greece's past is very rich and diverse; being in the crossroads between Europe, Asia and Africa, Greece has been part of various kingdoms and  empires,  something which is evident in the Greece's culture today. Romans,  Venetians, Genoese, OttomanTurks, Florentines, Catalans, the Knights of St John are some of the people that have been part of Greece's rich past.In this regard, Greece provides a very interesting "palimpsest", an "amalgam" of different civilisations which have contributed in the creation of Greece's  rich cultural identity today.
