Greece is usually known for its sunny and warm weather. However, winters can be quite cold and harsh especially in the mountain areas of the mainland and in some of the high mountains of the largest islands such as Crete.
January and February tend to be the coldest months; the last couple of days, we experienced sever snowstorms that hit the southern part of the country including the Greek islands and Athens. I post some rare photos of the Greek islands and Athens with snow!
